POLICE BRIEFS It’s a good thing he’s not all thumbs A Gaffney man was shot in the thumb following a dispute at his home over the weekend, police said. William L. Camp, 53, of 231 Pryor St., Gaffney, suffered a gunshot wound in his left thumb, a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office states. Police have a suspect but no arrests have been made. A black man in his 20s came to Camp’s home and started an altercation at 8:30 p.m. Friday, police said. The man shot a handgun twice. One of those shots struck Camp, the report states. Man charged with beating woman Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Gaffney man on aggravated domestic violence charges after a woman he lived with was taken to the hospital. Marion Leon Fernanders, 31, of 522 Burnt Gin Road, Gaffney, is charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office states. Police said an argument between Fernanders and a 26year-old woman turned physical. Fernanders hit the woman numerous times on her head and face with this fists, the report states. The woman suffered injuries to her left eye, which was swollen shut, and cuts to her lip and nose, according to the report. She was transported to the hospital by Upstate Carolina Medical Center Emergency Medical Services. |
