Local students excel at higher learning
ROCK HILL – High achieving students at Winthrop University have been honored by being named to the president’s or dean’s list for sprang 2005.
To be named to the president’s list, students must have earned a 4.0 grade point ratio during the semester. To be named to the dean’s list, students must have earned a 3.5 or better GPR.
Students also must have completed 12 semester hours to letter-grade courses for the semester.
Named to the Dean’s List included: Vanessa Cherie Cox of Blacksburg; Christina Marie Drotor of Chesnee; Ashley Brooke Huskey, Jennifer Marie Jolly, Christian Leigh Sturgis and Casey Nichole Turner, all of Gaffney.
SPARTANBURG – The following Gaffney students received their degrees from Converse College on May 21 during the college’s 111th commencement exercises:
Cynthia Michelle Childers, daughter of Harold and Julia Childers, B.A. in special education (deaf and hard of hearing); Jennifer Maria Gray, daughter of LaDonna White, B.A. in psychology; Nicole Elizabeth Southgate, daughter of Donna Southgate, B.A. in psychology and business administration( marketing); Kelly Diane Thornton, daughter of Mike and Cathy Thornton, B.A. in mathematics.
Anna Parris of Chesnee, daughter of Robert P Parris of Chesnee and Ellen Stakeman Parris of Gaffney, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory College of Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., during the college’s 160th commencement ceremony on May 16.
