Gaffney Middle The Gaffney Middle School will hold football tryouts, beginning Aug. 8 from 4-5:30 p.m. Rising seventh and eighth graders must have a completed physical form for the tryout. Blank forms are available at the school office Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

Ellis to speak

The Cherokee County Gamecock Club will be holding its fall kickoff at Limestone College in the Stephenson Dining Hall on August 11.

Guest speaker will be former Gamecock quarterback and current play-by-play announcer Todd Ellis. Tickets are $15 and the event will begin at 6 p.m. with dinner included in the price of the ticket. Deadline for purchase of dinner tickets is August 4. A raffle for two season tickets and other prizes will be held. Raffle entries are $10 and will be sold at the door. An auction of six season tickets and select away game tickets will be held. Tickets for the event can be purchased at the Sub Station II - 711 W. The Blacksburg Ladies will be coached by Lane Carter. The roster will be Libby Corry, Kim Spake, Nikki Ross, Lisa Spake, Gina Spake, Jayci Blanton, Tabitha Burns, Shana Thompson, Chasity Dowdle, Lisa Broome and Tammy Thompson.

Coach Vince Conley will helm the Gaffney Ladies. The team will consist of Quantrina Foster, Anitra Montgomery, Eboni Littlejohn, Meka Mayberry, Neva Littlejohn, Tonya Holmes, Stacey Posey, Charlotte Littlejohn, Deondra Montgomery, Cathy Littlejohn, and Stephanie Tate.

Blacksburg’s men’s team will be coached by Jim Touchberry and Gaffney will be coached by Coach Roger Patterson.

The full men’s roster for Blacksburg is Tim Weathers, Kelvin Young, Daniel Wilson, Marcus Davis, Ben Touchberry, James Thomas, Mutt Dawkins, Jason McCraw, Marquee Gibson and Mike Green.
