Alma P. Walker

Cleveland County native

SHELBY – Alma Pennington Walker, 71, of 103 Dakar Drive, died Friday, July 22, 2005, in Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

A native of Cleveland County, she was the wife of Willie R. Walker of the home and daughter of the late Amos A. and Nina Ruth Crook Pennington. She was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to her husband are four sons, Larry Walker and wife, Becky, and Mike Walker and wife, Wanda, all of Kings Mountain, Steve Walker and wife, Linda, of Lawndale, and Keith Walker and wife, Traci, of Gastonia; five daughters, Brenda Richards and husband, Johnny, and Theresa Holtz and husband, Ed, all of Shelby, Sandra Hartley of Bostic, Annette Walker, and Rene’ Willis and husband, Ronnie, all of Kings Mountain; a brother, Carl Pennington and wife, Barbara, of Blacksburg; a sister, Dorothy Smith, of Blacksburg; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 13 nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William “Buck” Albert Pennington and J. W. Pennington; and a sister, Frances Pennington Turner.

A celebration of life service will be held today at 11:30 a.m. at Rock Springs Baptist Church in Blacksburg, with the Revs. Neil Perry and Brian Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens in Blacksburg.

The family will receive friends today at the church from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and at other times at 805 Kingswood Court, Kings Mountain.
