BPW boss: Lawrence, Earls must stop
Dear Editor:
Recently Dan Lawrence has filed a number of complaints with the State Ethics Commission which have made numer-ous allegations against me, two commissioners and several Board of PublicWorks employees.
These allegations are false.
Dan Lawrence is repackaging the same false allegations that have been urged repeatedly by Brenda Earls for five years. Between them, Dan Lawrence and Brenda Earls have now contacted the City of Gaffney police, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s office, the Solicitor’s office, SLED, the S.C. Attorney General’s office, the FBI, the City of Gaffney Election Commission, the Cherokee County Election Commission, the S.C. Election Commission and the S.C. Ethics Commission. Despite their continuing allegations, not a single one of these law enforcement authorities or govern-mental agencies has found any wrongdoing on the part of the Board of Public Works, its commissioners, management or employees or any credibility to any of their allegations.
I believe Dan Lawrence and Brenda Earls are using harassment, spreading false allegations and misinformation, and abusing the public forum, to try to discredit the Board, the other commissioners, Board management and employ-ees, as well as our families for personal vengeance and political gain.
This must stop. Unfortunately the significant cost of wast-ed public dollars, resources and personnel time that these personal agendas have cost, and continue to cost, Board ratepayers and the taxpayers of Cherokee County cannot easily, if ever, be replaced.
Sincerely, Donnie L. Hardin BPW General Manager
