Iron City Place perks up with new coffee shop
Coffee 101 has come to Blacksburg. The brother and sister team of Jonathon Will and Kimberly Will have joined together to open a unique coffee shop at Iron City Place, the former Blacksburg school.
The coffee shop offers a mix of espresso, cappuccino, latte’, and blended iced coffee. Along with the Barnie brand regular and decaffeinated coffee, Kim also makes fresh squeezed lemonade and fresh brewed iced tea. The mocha latte’ has been extremely popular. They also offer smoothies and fruit blasts.
In the display case one can find a wide selection of sweets. There are a variety of pies, cakes, cinnamon rolls, cheese cake and cookies from which to choose as well as bagels, cereal bars and oatmeal.
Coffee 101 is also offering the protein shakes used by clients of the neighboring store Curves. These are available in chocolate or vanilla.
The coffee shop is open from first call at 7 a.m. to last call at 9 p.m. Sunday through Saturday.
The decor in the former school’s cafeteria is a mix of new and old. There are couches, chairs, a footon, tables and chairs and a huge conference table for large gatherings. The painted walls are filled with unique art work. There is still space available for local artists who would like to display their works for show or sale. Just give Jon or Kim a call at Coffee 101 (864) 839 5979. There is something to please young and old alike. Try your luck in a chess match or play cards or a board game, or sit back and relax with a cup of coffee and read one of the area newspapers.
For those traveling to Blacksburg on Highway 29 Coffee 101 is across from the Piggly Wiggly. Turn on South John and drive past the school and turn left on Lime Street and left into the parking lot. Enter the shop and follow the yellow brick road to the counter.
Jonathon is a Class of 2000 graduate of Travelers Rest High School. Kimberly graduated from there in 2003. Jon went on to join the Army and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Kim is a licensed massage therapist working out of the Grapevine Day Spa located at Iron City Place.
