OBITUARIES
Jones O. Johnson
20-year veteran
of United States Army
BLACKSBURG – Jones O. Johnson, a U.S. Army retiree, 70, of 304 W. Cherokee St., answered the Master’s call on Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, at 2:08 p.m. in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
Born in Kings Mountain, N.C., Mr. Johnson was the husband of Christine Ross Johnson and son of the late Otha Johnson and the late Mozelle Campbell Johnson. He
was a 20-year veteran
in the United States Army and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gaffney.
Surviving are his wife, Christine Ross Johnson; a daughter, Mozelle Brown of Rock Hill; three sons, Larry Ross, Jeremy Johnson, both of York, and Jason Johnson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three stepdaughters, Elizabeth Atkinson of New York, Lynette Sims of Charlotte and Vanessa Atkinson of Monroe, N.C.; a stepson, Jerry Atkinson of Hutto, Texas; 29 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of sons and daughtersin law, brothers and sistersin law; nieces, nephews; relatives and close friends.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1600 W. Floyd Baker Blvd., Gaffney, conducted by the Rev. Roger Lindler. Military burial will follow in Clingman Memorial Gardens, Blacksburg.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30-7:30 at Foster Funeral Home, Gaffney.
Kimberly C. Mullinax
Charleston native
BLACKSBURG – Kimberly Culbertson Mullinax, 39, of 143 Shannon Acres Drive, died Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, at her home.
A native of Charleston, she was the daughter of Lottie Martin Blanton of the home and William Culbertson Sr. of Pineville, N.C. She was the stepdaughter of Nancy Culbertson of Pineville and the late Tommy Blanton.
Surviving in addition to her mother, father and stepmother are three brothers, Michael Allen Culbertson of Gaffney, Stephen L. Culbertson of Blacksburg and William A. Culbertson Jr. of Kingsport, Tenn.; and two sisters, Rita Childers of York and Shannon Culbertson of Easley.
Services will be held today at 3:30 p.m. at Broad River Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Norman Philbeck. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3-3:30 p.m. and at other times they will be at the home.
