OBITUARIES
Iva H. Reece
Retired from Oxford Ind. Iva Eugenia Hill Reece, 90, passed away Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, in her apartment at Magnolias of Gaffney.
A native of Gaffney, she was the widow of Perry Grover Hoyle Reece and daughter of the late General Sherman and Rosa Spencer Hill. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and retired from Oxford Industries.
Mrs. Reece was a great genealogist and loved traveling and crafts. She recently celebrated her 90th birthday with many of her beloved friends and family at Magnolias of Gaffney.
Surviving are her son, Sherman Lee Reece, and his wife, Nancy, of Norfolk, Va.; a very special nephew, Archie Dean Fowler, and his wife, Dianne, of Blacksburg and numerous other nieces and nephews; and special friends and caregivers, Shirley Ruppe, Frances Hammett, Nellie Sarratt and Doris Logan.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Reece was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Jean Reece; a brother, Vance Winyard Hill; and a sister, Olga Louise Hill Harris.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, conducted by Bishop Manfred G. Martin, Elder Dennis DeVaney, Elder Lynn Lawhon, Elder Floyd Martin and Elder Archie D. Fowler. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 5-7 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be M. Clayton Fowler, Douglas E. Fowler, Reece D. Fowler, S. Brook Fowler, F. Jason Fowler and Blakely C. Fowler.
Family members are at their respective homes.

Claude L. Phillips Jr.
Retired from Hamrick Mills
Claude L. "Jack" Phillips Jr., 56, of 120 Pauline Drive, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at his home.
A native of Gaffney, he was the husband of Anita S. Phillips and son of Louise Guyton Phillips of Gaffney and the late Claude L. Phillips Sr.
Mr. Phillips was retired from Hamrick Mills, Musgrove Plant, and was a U.S. Air Force Vietnam veteran. He coached Little League baseball for 20 years and was a member of Elm Street Church of God.
Also surviving are a son, Stacey Phillips and his wife, Christina, of Gaffney; two granddaughters; and a brother, Robert Phillips of Gaffney.
In addition to his father, Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by two brothers, Aaron Lee Phillips and David Eugene Phillips.
Services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Elm Street Church of God, conducted by the Revs. James Garner and Henry Guyton. Burial will be in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1-2:45 p.m. at the church.
The family is at the home of his mother, Louise Phillips, 302 Elm St.

Dianne B. Young
Former Realtor® COWPENS – Dianne Marie Bulman Young, 42, of 1982 Battleground Road, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at her home.
A native of Spartanburg, she was the widow of James Douglas "Champ" Young and daughter of Michael Bulman and Gwen Cash Gray. She was formerly a Realtor® in Spartanburg and a 1985 graduate of Limestone College. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church, an avid horsewoman and enjoyed spending time with her son. Dianne died of a lifelong battle with asthma.
Surviving are her son, Jason Douglas "J.D." Young of Cowpens; mother and stepfather, Gwen and Charles Gray of Cowpens; father and stepmother, Michael and Kathy Bulman of Boiling Springs; a sister, Teena Michele Bulman of Cowpens; a step-sister, Sherry Collins of Inman; two step-brothers, Michael Gray of Inman and Howard Gray of Charlotte; maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Marie Cash Belue and J.M. Belue of Cowpens; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by Dr. Robert Kirby and Minister of Youth Ray Martin.
The family is at the home of her mother, Gwen Gray, 1983 Battleground Road, Cowpens.

Ruthel Fuller
Retired from Bonitz Ruthel Fuller, 71, of 111 Kennedy St., died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at his home.
Born in Greenville County, he was the husband of Fredonia Durham Fuller and son of the late John and Lula Fuller. He was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and a member of Tryon Masonic Lodge No. 8. He retired from Bonitz Construction Company after 20 years of service as a master stucco finisher.
Also surviving are two sons of Gaffney, Rufus Ardell Fuller and his family, Thomasina Logan (Brad), Chandler, Brad Jr., Aiden; John Douglas Fuller (Kay) and family, Johnetta, Stacey Rodgers (Bobby), Elijah, Jordan; two daughters, Ruby Mickles (John) and family, Larthun "Speedy" Mickles, Kammeron, Shakira, and Sherkita Mickles; and Mary Ellis (Rev. Frankie) and family, Corey, Raekwon, Breeyon, Sherrian, Kendall, Stephanie Tate (Tim), Chae and Jada.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Michael A. Bridges and the Rev. C.A. Wallace. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
Pallbearers will be members of Tryon Masonic Lodge.
Members of the Eastern Star and Heroines of Jericho will serve as flower bearers.

Andy Curenton Worked with City of Gaffney
Andy Curenton, 69, of 302 Marietta Drive, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
Born in Union County, he was the son of the late Arenious and Minnie Jeter Curenton. He worked with the City of Gaffney and attended Jeter Chapel AME Church in Carlisle.
Surviving are a son, Anthony Curenton of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Emma Hyman of Union and Minnie Davis of Washington, D.C.; and two brothers, Arenious Curenton Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, and James Curenton of New York.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Curenton. Burial will be in Jeter Chapel Church Cemetery.
