Safe stolen from

woman’s car

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft from a Gaffney woman’s sports utility vehicle of a safe that contained jewelry and coins.

The Roys Farm Road resident told police she had packed her 2000 Mitsubishi SUV when an unknown person( s) entered the vehicle and removed the safe, according to an incident report on file at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department. The incident occurred between 6:30 p.m. Sept. 15 and 1:40 p.m. Sept. 16.

The safe contained several items of jewelry valued at $6,000 and old coins valued at $1,500, the report states.

Police estimated damage to the safe and the value of the stolen property at $7,800.

Women accused of

forging checks

Two Gaffney women have been arrested for allegedly cashing fraudulent checks at a local bank.

Detective Sgt. Scott Wylie has charged Nikki Cobb Waters, 33, and Linda Robinson Hamilton, 61, both of Westwood Apartments, 1022 W. Buford St., Gaffney, each with forgery less than $5,000, a report at the Gaffney Police Department states.

The women are accused of cashing forged checks at Palmetto Bank, 311 S. Limestone St., Gaffney. Police said Waters cashed a $200 check and Hamilton cashed a $400 check on Aug. 11. The checks were written on the account of a local individual, the report states.

4th offense DUS

Sheriff’s department deputies have arrested a Blacksburg man for fourth offense driving under suspension, a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office states.

Lt. Gerald Spencer has also charged Marc Love Hodge, 45, of 198 Hardin Trail, with failure to stop for a blue light.

The officer observed Hodge driving a white vehicle recklessly on Highway 18 North, police said. Hodge did not stop after the officer activated his blue lights and siren, according to the report.

Hodge wrecked the vehicle at Matthew Drive and Hollywood Drive and was apprehended after a foot chase, police said.

Man charged in

stabbing incident

A Gaffney man has been arrested for allegedly cutting another man under his right eye, a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office states.

Deputy R.W. Turner has charged Carmie Joe Hull, 41, of 175 Deer Ridge Road, Gaffney, with assault and battery with intent to kill.

Hull is accused of using a knife to stab a 49-year-old man at the man’s home on Carolyn Drive in Gaffney. The alleged assault happened at 5:15 p.m. Sept. 9.
