Alma P. Wilborn
Former textile employee
BLACKSBURG – Alma Louise Price Wilborn, 59, of 167 Becky's Blvd., died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, at her home.
A native of Gaffney, she was the wife of Charles Wilborn of the home and daughter of the late Albert Price and the late Janie Blanton Price. She was a former textile employee, a homemaker and member of Meeting Place Church in Blacksburg.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, the Rev. Charlie D. Wilborn of Moore and Steven L. Wilborn of Gaffney; a daughter, Cindy L. Alge of Blacksburg; eight grandchildren; one greatgrandchild; a sister, Frances Bolin of Shelby; and a halfsister, Myrtle Jones of Canton, N.C.
Services were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher at Frederick Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Revs. Rick Robison and Lane Carter. Burial was in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Doug Wilborn, Mike Jones, John Dover, Mike Mullinax, Alex Ruppe and Steve Bolin.
The family is at the residence.

Thelma R. Davis
Homemaker
WOODRUFF – Thelma Louise Ray Davis, 83, of 1650 S.J. Workman Hwy., passed away Friday, Sept. 16, 2005, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Spartanburg County on Oct. 12, 1921, she was the widow of Burnie Reed Davis and daughter of the late Clingman and Gertrude Eldridge Ray. Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and member of Cavins Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Billy Richardson of Gaffney; two daughters, Hope Pearson and Velvet Knighton, both of Woodruff; a stepson, Ken Davis of Greenville; a sister, Shirley Kanippe of Shelby; and two brothers, James Ray and Dean Ray, both of Gaffney; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Martin, and a sister, Helen Pearson.
Graveside services will be held today at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. James Shealy. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service.

Sam Griffin Jr.
Retired farmer
Sam Griffin Jr., 79, of 894 Concord Road, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at his home.
Mr. Griffin was the widower of Ethel Scruggs Griffin and son of the late Sam and Rosa Robbins Griffin Jr. He was a retired farmer.
Surviving are two sons, Daniel Griffin and Carson Griffin, both of Gaffney; five daughters, Marlene Goode, Eunice Bolin, Mae Dover, Rosa Lee Henderson and Linda Cox, all of Gaffney; a brother, Marshall Dean Griffin of Gaffney; five sisters, Frances Greene of Coos Bay, Ore., Ellen Wilson of Cowpens, Marie Parker of Gaffney, Paulette Mintz of Cliffside, N.C., and Margie Scruggs of Mayo; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by a son, Donnie Leroy Griffin; three brothers, Barney Griffin, Sammie Lee Griffin and Earnest Griffin; and a sister, Rozzell Gallman.
Services will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Little Memorial Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. James Humphries and Wayne Parker. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30-8 p.m. at White Columns of Gaffney.

Marie B. Davis
Cherokee County native
Marie Burris Davis, 73, of 1014 Vancouver Lane, Gastonia, N.C., died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, in Gaston Memorial Hospital.
A native of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Adam Littlejohn and the late Hannah Hollis.
Surviving are four daughters, Doris Barber, Sandra Davis, Sylvia Davis and Jeanette Davis; four sons, Bobby Davis, Jeffery Davis, Michael Davis and Jonathan Davis; a stepdaughter, Diane Littlejohn; and a brother, Robert Littlejohn.
Services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Gaston Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 23 p.m.

Judy Moore
Retired teacher from
Greenwood district 50
GREENWOOD – Judith Sullivan "Judy" Moore, a resident of 119 Pine Circle and wife of W. Stan Moore, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at Hospice Care of the Piedmont, Hospice House.
Born in Cherokee County, she was a daughter of Virginia Tate Sullivan and the late John Richard Sullivan. A graduate of Gaffney High School, Mrs. Moore received her B.A. degree from Limestone College and her Master's Degree in education from Lander University. She was a retired teacher from Greenwood School District 50 at Southside Junior High School, where she served as chairman of the Science Department.
A member of Harris Baptist Church and the Esterian Sunday School Class, she was also a member of the Joy Group of the church. She formerly served as a Sunday School teacher and youth advisor. A former member and past president of the American Association of University Women, Mrs. Moore was listed in Who's Who of American Women and in Who's Who In the South.
She was a former advisor of the youth board of the South Carolina Lung Association and was a former member of the Palmetto State Teachers Association and the South Carolina Science Council. She was a member of the Epsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Fraternity and the Greenwood Woman's Club.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home and mother of Gaffney are a daughter, Amanda M. Grigsby and husband, Eric, of Greenwood; a sister, Susan S. Hatch of Palm Coast, Fla.; two brothers, Richard E. Sullivan and wife, Maxine, of Spartanburg and Stephen T. Sullivan and wife, Magaly, of Gaffney; and grandchildren, John Patrick Grigsby and Catherine Elise Grigsby, both of Greenwood.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Harris Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Frank Thomas. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Roy Cooner, Martin Cooner, Blake Liner, Bill King, Smitty Cook, Joe Tommie, Dan Wideman, Brooks Decker and Norman Higginbotham.
Honorary escort will be members of the Esterian Sunday School Class along with Shirley and Booty Sipe, Sue and Frank Coursey, Ann and Wally Irby, Jane and Blake Barfield, Connie and Albert Buzhardt, Brenda Liner, Martha Henderson, Rosa Milledge, Judy Wood, Margaret Quarles, Ann Davis and Dr. Melissa Maceda.
The body is at Blyth Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Tuesday. The family is at the home in Lakewood Heights and will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. today.
