. Cecelia Hopping beat Chelsea Sinclair, 7-6, 6-1, for the Lady Indians’ only singles’ victory in a 5-1 loss to Boiling Springs last Thursday. The Lady Indians were blanked by Union, 0-6, last Monday.

. Quincey Jackson scored on runs of 60 and 14 yards as the Gaffney ninth-grade team improved to 3-0 with a 29-0 victory over Boiling Springs on Thursday.

Robert Davidson connected with Emison Hughes on a 45yard touchdown pass before Terrence Sanderlin finished off the scoring with a 40-yard punt return.

The coaching staff also applauded the defensive effort.

. Boiling Springs beat Gaffney, 3-0, in volleyball action last Thursday. The Lady Bulldogs took game one, 25-17, before nipping the Lady Indians 25-23, in the next two games.

Doristine Norris, Jessica Turner and Laura Kies were bright spots for the Lady Indians, coach Vickie Parks said.

Gaffney opens region play Tuesday at home against Northwestern.

. Dustin Batchler threw two touchdown passes but it wasn’t enough as Jonesville beat the Blacksburg junior varsity, 34-22, last Thursday.

Batchler hit Chip Clark on a 50-yard TD before his 40-yard scoring strike to Rashad Earls.

Earls also had an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

. David Dewberry scored two rushing touchdowns and Kelin Morris picked off two passes to lead the Gaffney junior varsity to a 28-0 win over Boiling Springs last Thursday.

Kevin Robison and Jeremiah Cochran also had scoring runs.

Jonathan Motts had three extra points.

. The Limestone women’s soccer team beat defending CVAC champion Mount Olive, 4-0, on Saturday. Lee Crib opened the scoring before the Lady Saints took command with two goals to open the second half. In men’s action, the Trojans topped the Saints, 2-0.

. Riverbend Golf Club in Shelby will host the Habitat for Humanity of Cherokee County charity golf tournament on Friday, Sept 16, at 2 p.m. There will be a shotgun start, with four person captain’s choice. The entry fee is $60 per person. There will be prizes for closest to the pin, longest drive and more.
