Restaurant damaged in break-in

By TARA JENNINGS Ledger Staff Writer tara@gaffneyledger.com

Approximately $18,000 in damage was done to a Subway restaurant over the weekend when someone broke into the business, a report at the Gaffney Police Department states.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the burglary at the 114 Wilkinsville Hwy restaurant.

No money was taken from the store safe but the burglar(s) did take a surveillance tape. The incident occurred sometime between Saturday and Sunday, the report states.

Windows in the drive-thru of the restaurant were open and not secured, leading police to believe the window was forced open by the burglar(s). The front and back doors were locked.

Two weeks ago a 15or 16year-old black male attempted to rob a Greenville man outside the same Subway restaurant. The victim kicked the teen after the would-be robber produced a handgun, then fled the scene and called police. The suspect in the Sept. 11 incident was described as a black male approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall. He was wearing a stocking over his head and face, a red shirt and a black jacket over long pants.
