Scholarship recipient named

The first recipient of a new endowed scholarship at Limestone College is Jennifer Gray, a freshman from Union majoring in biology. The scholarship was recently established by the A. Foster Jordan family in memory of Elizabeth Jones Jordan, a 1926 graduate of Limestone. This year’s award provides $4,000 for educational expenses during Gray’s first year at Limestone.

Jordan was an honor graduate from Limestone and was recognized with the General Excellence Award as the most outstanding member of her class. She was an outstanding athlete, served as May Queen, and received other awards during her undergraduate years.

Her family, in establishing an endowed scholarship, wanted to honor Jordan’s memory while serving new generations of college students who might emulate her remarkable record at Limestone. The endowed scholarship will provide $4,000 annually to a female student graduating from a Union County high school, who has a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and who has financial need.

Gray was chosen as the inaugural recipient after finishing Union High School with a 4.07 GPA. She is currently enrolled in Limestone’s Honors Program.
