Announcements

¦ The Cherokee County Public Library will be closed Monday Oct. 3, for upgrades on the computer system. The regular schedule will resume Tuesday, Oct. 4.

¦ Upstate Carolina Medical Center will host two diabetes classes on Oct. 5 and Oct. 19. The Basic Survival Skills classes start at 9 a.m. and the Beyond the Basics classes start at 10:45 a.m. Also of interest to people with diabetes, the Diabetes Support Group will not meet in October. Register in advance by calling 487-1652.

Church events

¦ Sacred Heart Catholic Church will begin the Rite of Christian Education for Adults on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 7:30 pm. The first classes will be inquiry sessions where one may ask questions. The group will meet downstairs in the social hall. You are not making a commitment to join, just getting questions answered. The program continues to teach the customs and practices of the Bible as the year goes on.

¦ There will be an end-time prophecy conference with Dr. Parnell Coward at New Harvest Church of God, Sept. 2830 at 7 p.m. He will be speaking on the subject, "Why Are We in Iraq?" Dr. Coward is a professor at Holmes Bible College in Greenville and the author of six books. New Harvest is located at 120 Boiling Springs Hwy. ¦ The South Carolina Federation of Business and Professional Women will hold its annual Fall Board and Women’s Conference on Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Phoenix Inn, 246 N.
