The fate of a proposed entertainment center here may not be known for a few more weeks, sources close to the negotiations said.

American Family Entertainment CenterSoutheast (AFEC) has been involved in ongoing negotiations to locate its $6.8 million entertainment center at either Prime Outlets Gaffney or a 12-acre parcel on Nancy Creek Road owned by the Copeland family.

Sources had said AFEC would break off negotiations with the outlet mall on Tuesday if a deal couldn’t be reached. The sides have spent months trying to resolve an impasse over how the property is transferred.

AFEC-Southeast President Dave Kowert declined comment Thursday when asked if negotiations with the mall are ongoing.

But sources said an official announcement on the location of the theater could happen within 10 days to two weeks.

The proposed 60,000square-foot center would feature eight state-of-the-art stadium-seating movie theaters, which range from 80 to 244 seats each. Stadium seating features tiered seats designed to give everyone a clear view of the screen.

The center also includes a 16-lane bowling alley, children and adult arcades, a food court and a sports bar. The bowling alley can be expanded to 24 lanes.

The center will employ 1012 full-time workers and as many as 28 part-time employees.
