Joseph W. McCleave

Services for Joseph W. McCleave, 70, of 110 Washington Ave., will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Mikes Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Michael Henderson, Gerald McCleave and Phil Foney. Body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.

Pallbearers and flower bearers will be family and friends.

Mr. McCleave was the son of the late Rev. Fredger McCleave and the late Irene Borders McCleave. He was a native of Gaffney and a member of Mikes Creek Baptist Church. He was a member of the Mikes Creek All Male Choir and the Joyful Commanders Gospel Singers.

Walter M. Hatchell

Retired textile employee

BLACKSBURG – Walter Middleton Hatchell, 73, of 1021 Lookout Tower Road, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center, Gaffney.

A native of Lumberton, N.C., he was the son of the late Hoyt C. and Mary Weaver Hatchell. He was a retired textile employee.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Flora Lee Stendall Hatchell; three daughters, Beverly Wilson of the home, Sharon Weaver and Linda Bostic, both of Blacksburg; a brother, Jimmy Hatchell; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hatchell was preceded in death by a brother, Hoyt Hatchell, and a sister, Jenny Lou Hatchell.

Services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home, Mt. Holly, N.C. Entombment was in Hillcrest Gardens Mausoleum.

MeLissa C. Sheehan

Textile employee

MeLissa Carr Sheehan, 44, of 305 8th St., died Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, at her home.

A native of Cowpens, she was the daughter of Joyce Powell Beheler and the late Harold Carr. She was a textile employee.

Surviving are three daughters, April Sheehan, Patricia Sheehan and Angel McCurry, all of Gaffney; three grandchildren; a brother, Harold Carr of Shelby; and two sisters, Mary Childers and Brenda Lindsey, both of Gaffney.

Ms. Sheehan was preceded in death by a niece, Ashley Harrison.

Services will be private.

Family members are at their respective homes.

Frances S. Gardner

Homemaker

BLACKSBURG – Frances Margaret Louise Shipman Gardner, 71, of 1263 W. Cherokee St., died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

A native of Greenville, she was the widow of Franklin Delano Garner Sr. and daughter of the late Jason David Shipman and the late Cora Lee Bryant Shipman. She was a homemaker and member of Lighthouse Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Rose Lee McBee and Betty Jean Shipman Beam, both of Gaffney; a brother, Charles Skeeter Redding of Marietta; two sisters, Mary Shipman of Marietta and Martha Shipman Edwards of Clinton; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Garner was preceded in death by a brother, James Hurbert Redding, and a sister, Bonnie Shipman Burgess.

Graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Clingman Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Roger Childers.

The family will receive friends at the home of Rose Lee McBee, 340 Old McKown Mountain Road, Gaffney.
