For the first time this year, the Limestone women’s basketball team walked off the court in celebration.

Monica Adams scored a game-high 18 points and Tiffany Jones had 11 points to lift the Saints to a come-frombehind 72-71 victory over No. 11-ranked Bentley College at the Electric/Executive West Tip-off Tourney Saturday in Louisville, Ky.

It was the Lady Saints’ (1-2) first win of the season.

“Monica was a tremendous force for us inside,” Limestone coach Corey Fox said. “Jodeana Pirtle had a great weekend. She does so many things that don’t show up on the stat sheet.”

Trailing 39-31 at halftime, the Lady Saints went on a 7-0 run to lead 70-69 with 13 seconds left to play. Shannon Kirwan scored to put Bentley up by a point with six seconds left.

Melissa Devore then hit the game-winning shot for the Lady Saints as time expired.

Adams was named to the all-tournament team.

The Lady Saints travel to Coker next Tuesday to open conference play.
