Miss Hawkins, Mr. Parris speak vows
MR. AND MRS. MICHAEL CHAD PARRIS Stephanie Page Hawkins and Michael Chad Parris exchanged marriage vows on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at Midway Baptist Church. Dr. M.B. Morrow Jr. officiated the 2 p.m. double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Ricky and Wanda Hawkins of Gaffney. Her grandparents are Rachel Hawkins and the late G.B. Hawkins and the late Mack and Jean Smiley. A graduate of Gaffney High School, she is employed by Yellow Transportation.
The groom is the son of Gary Parris and Jeannine Batease, both of Gaffney. His grandparents are Mary Turner, the late Jesse Turner and the late J.D. and Inez Parris. A graduate of Gaffney High School, he is employed by The Timken Company.
Mr. and Mrs. Parris are making their home in Gaffney after a wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn.
Music was provided by Barbara Guthrie, organist, and Kim Westbrooks, vocalist. Mrs. Guthrie performed "Surely the Presence," "Precious Memories," "Give Thanks," "Canon in D," "Trumpet Voluntary," "Wedding March" and "How Majestic in Your Name." Mrs. Westbrooks sang "Parents' Prayer," "Only God Could Love You More" and "From This Moment."
The sanctuary was adorned with ficus and wisteria trees, ferns and the unity candle. Candles were lit in memory of the couple's deceased grandparents.
For her wedding the bride wore a strapless satin gown featuring a beaded lace overlay. The split front skirt extended into a sweep train. Her hair was adorned with a comb of rhinestones, crystals and pearls which held an elbow-length veil studded with Swarovski crystals and edged with braid. She carried a bouquet of yellow roses and daisies enhanced with fern.
The bride was attended by her sister-inlaw, Christy Hawkins, of Gaffney as matron of honor. She wore a two-piece ensemble featuring a striped buttercup taffeta tealength skirt and bodice with spaghetti straps accented with contrasting flowers and piping. She carried pink roses, daisies and ivy.
Bridesmaids were Elizabeth Hutson of Alabama, Jessica Dover of Gaffney, Stacy McCraw of Irmo, cousins of the bride, and Angela Collins of Gaffney. They were attired in two-piece ensembles featuring buttercup taffeta tea-length skirts and strapless white lace bodices with buttercup lining. They carried daisies and ivy.
Sydney Hood of Gaffney served as flower girl. Her floor-length dress featured a beaded lace bodice and organza skirt trimmed with satin ribbon. An organza wreath enhanced with rhinestones adorned her hair and she carried a satin basket filled with yellow rose petals.
Owen Hawkins of Gaffney, son of the bride, was the ring bearer.
Josh Carter of Gaffney attended the groom as best man. Groomsmen were Jake Carter, Shawn Hood, Chad Hawkins and Greg Hawkins, brothers of the bride, all of Gaffney.
Following the ceremony, a reception was given by the bride's parents in the church Family Life Center.
