Limestone College Community Chorus will perform ‘Messiah’Sunday afternoon
The Christmas portion of Handel’s Messiah will be performed by the Limestone College Community Chorus on Sunday, Dec. 4, at 3 p.m. in Fullerton Auditorium.
Over 40 singers will perform this holiday favorite with a chamber orchestra. The college’s newly renovated AeolianSkinner organ will be played by Dr. David B. Thompson, associate professor of music.
Conductor for the performance is Dr. Gena E. Poovey, associate professor of music education.
In addition to the 29 Limestone students singing, community participants come from First Baptist Church of Gaffney, Circle of Grace Lutheran Chapel, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Grassy Pond Baptist Church, Limestone Presbyterian Church and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
There will be a new twist on an old classic at this year’s performance. Anyone who has previously taken part in singing the “Hallelujah” portion of Messiah is invited to sing along with the chorus during the performance.
If you have your own musical score bring it with you to the dress rehearsal Saturday, Dec. 3, from 1:30-4 p.m. or simply come early Sunday at 2 p.m. and make your intention known to ushers or the director. A limited number of scores will be available and offered for use on a first come-first serve basis.
