Clarence L. Allen Former psychologist with
Cleveland County Mental
Health Department
Clarence Lee Allen, 82, of 426 S. Petty St., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
Mr. Allen was the husband of Elizabeth Blanton Allen and son of the late Robert Rhyon Allen and Ethel Gossett Allen. He was formerly a psychologist with the Cleveland County Mental Health Department and also worked with Family Services in Spartanburg.
Mr. Allen was a United States Navy veteran, serving as a medic in World War II. He
was also retired from
the National Guard. A
graduate of Limestone College, he received his graduate degree from Florida State University and was a member of Limestone Presbyterian Church.
Also surviving are a daughter, Lisa Allen Teller and her husband, Martie, of Gaffney; two sisters, Mary Sentell of Norfolk, Va., and Margaret Parris of Gaffney; and two grandchildren, Rhyon Lee Teller and Elizabeth Jane Teller.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Limestone Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dan Youngblood officiating. The family will receive friends in the church parlor after the service. There will be a private burial.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Limestone Presbyterian Church, 101 E. Jefferies St., Gaffney, S.C., 29340; or to the charity of one’s choice.
The family will be at the residence.

Bobby Gene Hicks
Retired supervisor of
S.C. Transportation Dept.
Bobby Gene Hicks, 68, of 269 Beltline Road, Apt. 3-E, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at 3:05 p.m. in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
Son of Virgil Hicks and Catherine Gazaree Dawkins, he was a native of Shelby.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret G. Hicks of Gaffney; three brothers, the Rev. Ronnie C. Wilkins Sr., Jerry D. Wilkins, both of Gaffney, and John T. Wilkins of Greensboro, N.C.; a stepbrother, Mandret Wilkins of Gaffney; two sisters, Peggy A. Means of Gaffney and Janet J. Harris of Greensboro, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Cassandra Hicks and Kimberly Pitts of Gaffney; and a stepson, Jeffery Hicks of Greenville.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Indian Hill Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Clarence Davis and Ronnie C. Wilkins Sr. Burial will be in Limestone Cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.

Ruth M. Raines
Cherokee County native
BLACKSBURG – Devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Ruth McClain Raines, 67, of 324 Leagon Drive, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at her residence.
Mrs. Raines was the wife of John C. Raines of the home. A native of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late John Calvin and Laura Hambright McClain.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Gay Owens-Leuck of Gaffney and Lorrie Raines Painter of Blacksburg; three brothers, Gerald “Coot” McClain, Louis McClain and John A. McClain, all of Blacksburg; two sisters, Darlene McClain and Margaret McClain, both of Gaffney; six grandchildren, Jason Owens, Jarrod Leuck, Jessica Lynn Owens, Taylor Raines, Jalyn Ruth Painter and Juliette Bonner Leuck; and one greatgranddaughter, Saxon Owens.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Raines was preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Lynn Owens, and brother, Lawrence Benjamin ‘L.B.” McClain.
A celebration of life service will be held today at 2 p.m. at White Columns-Blacksburg with the Revs. Gregg Martin and Lucky Earls officiating. Burial will follow in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the home of Randy and Lorrie Painter, 680 Blacksburg Hwy., Blacksburg.

High school student
Leah Lee McCullough, 17, of 1110 Pacolet Hwy., died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, in Spart a n b u r g R e g i o n a l M e d i c a l Center.
A native of Gaffney, she was the daughter of Michael W. McCullough and Wendy Greene McCullough of Gaffney. She was a high school student.
Surviving in addition to her parents are two sisters, Brianna McCullough and Christy Echoles, both of Gaffney; a brother, Michael McCullough of Gaffney; maternal grandmother, Sybil Greene of Gaffney; paternal grandmother, Shelley McCullough of Gaffney; four nephews; one niece; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Miss McCullough was preceded in death by a sister, Bridget McCullough, and paternal grandfather, Wayne McCullough.
Services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at ShufordHatcher Chapel, downtown location, conducted by Mr. Everett Peterson. Burial was in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Scott Greene, Justin Greene, Robbie Trexler, Dwayne Foote, Randy Mullinax and Andy Hughey.
The family is at the home of Kim Ettlemeyer, 806 Florence St.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphomia Society, 1247 Lake Murray Blvd., Irmo, S.C. 29063.

Lynda H. Kirby

Lynda Herrin Kirby, 63, of 402 Forest Lane Drive, passed away Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Ms. Kirby was the daughter of the late Hubert L. Herrin and Doris Dale Coyle Herrin and the wife of Bob Stockwell. She was the office manager for Comfort Heating and Air and was of the Baptist faith.
Also surviving are a son, Tim Kirby and his wife, Lottie, of Gaffney; a daughter, Jill Kirby of Gaffney; a stepdaughter, Mandy Stockwell Painter of Gaffney; a brother, Dennis Wayne Herrin and his wife, Mary Ann, of Gaffney; and three grandchildren, Joshua Kirby, Anna Owens and Zac Painter.
Graveside services were held Saturday, Nov. 26, at 1 p.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens with Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating. Friends were received at the graveside following the service.
Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 403 W. Montgomery St., Gaffney, S.C. 29340.
Family members are at their respective homes.

BLACKSBURG – Roger Dale Turner, 50, of 321 Hopewell Road, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at his home.
Mr. Turner was the son of the late Howard Leroy and Carolyn Sprouse Turner.
