New city hall should be up and running by middle of January
City of Gaffney officials could be in their new digs as early as mid-January.
According to the project time line, the $4 million city hall project will be substantially complete Dec. 30, Gaffney Administrator James Taylor said.
“That means we can occupy the building, but the contractor may still be doing a couple of little things,” Taylor said.
City officials could begin moving into the building during the second or third week of January.
“The objective is to be out of the (current city administration building) by Jan. 31, so we don’t have to make a rent payment for February,” he said.
The new city hall could be open for business on Tuesday, Jan. 17. Tuesday, Jan. 24 or Wednesday, Jan. 25, are also possibilities, Taylor said.
“The earliest would be Jan. 17, but we have the other two dates,” he said. “And it’s realistic as of this day.”
Taylor said an open house will be scheduled once the move is complete.
