Hospital to host diabetes support group meeting Upstate Carolina Medical Center will offer a community class on how people with diabetes should manage their chronic condition when faced with the additional problems of having a cold, the flu or other illness. It will be Monday, Jan. 9, at 6 p.m. in the hospital’s cafeteria. “Did you know that your blood sugar can run higher when you are sick?” asked nurse educator Kelly Morris, R.N. “With cold and flu season here, it is very important that we be prepared in the event of an unexpected illness. At this meeting we will discuss how to take care of your diabetes during an illness and the supplies to keep on hand. There is no registration, and everyone is welcome to come.” For more information, please contact Morris at (864) 487-1652 or Christine Bach, RD, at 487-1575. |
