Limestone Lacrosse begins season in top 5

The Limestone men’s and women’s lacrosse teams earned top 5 rankings in Lacrosse Magazine’s 2006 preseason poll.

The men’s lacrosse team is No. 4 in the country while the Lady Saints are No. 5 are among NCAA Division II colleges. The rankings are compiled by Lacrosse Magazine staff with consultations from coaches and other members of the press.

The college preseason ratings appear in the January/February issue of the publication and can be viewed via the website at www.laxmagazine. com.

The Lady Saints finished the 2005 season with a 10-6 overall record and were 6-2 in conference play. It marked the seventh winning season in a row for the team as it took its second consecutive CarolinasVirginas Athletic Conference regular season title.

Limestone women’s lacrosse will begin their season on Saturday, February 18 when they host Presbyterian at noon.

The men’s lacrosse team capped off its successful 2005 season with its sixth consecutive trip to the NCAA national championship game. The Saints finished the year with a 15-2 record and were undefeated in the Deep South Conference (7-0), winning Limestone’s seventh straight conference title. The Saints will begin their season on Friday, February 17 when they travel to Clinton, S.C., to play Presbyterian at 3 p.m.
