Mr. and Mrs. Barry Lyndon Hamrick of Gaffney announce the marriage of their daughter, Caroline Courtney, to Michael Wayne Dover on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005. The seven o’clock candlelight ceremony was held at First Baptist Church of Gaffney with the Rev. Joel Michael Sellers officiating.
The entrance to the sanctuary was framed with a garland of solid hydrangea. A palette of chocolate brown and teal was the theme throughout.
Instrumental music for the ceremony was provided by Pat Hulsey Hurt, pianist; Pamela Smithey, organist; and the Upstate String Quartet. Vocal selections were provided by Rejoice Trio, composed of Rhonda White Hamrick, Laura McCraw Keller and Shelba Huskey Cook.
The program attendants were Pamela Gatch lnfinger and Nikki Hamrick Lyons. Emily Anne Infinger and Joy Hamrick Patterson attended the registers.
The wedding was directed by Elizabeth Childers Hamilton with Elegant Events of Charleston.
The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Loyd A.Z. McDaniel of Blacksburg and Mrs. Oliver David Hamrick of Gaffney and the late Mr. Hamrick. The bride’s family also includes Mr. and Mrs. William Lawrence Eustace and Patricia Anne Gatch of Charleston. She graduated from Limestone College with a B.S. degree in computer science and is employed by Hamrick’s, Incorporated of Gaffney as an assistant shoe buyer.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory silk satin strapless gown by Reem Acra. The bodice featured intricate gold and bronze bullion needlework and also delicate beadwork of tiny Swarovski crystals and seed pearls. The full-skirted gown continued with the embroidery and beadwork at the skirt sides and down the pleated, bustle-back sweeping train. Her fingertip diamond white veil was crowned with a Fenaroli tiara. The Lumina tiara was created with ivory pearls and brilliant Swarovski crystals.
The bride carried an allwhite cascade of dendrobium orchids, stephanotis, roses, lily of the valley and similax.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Wayne Dover of Gaffney. His grandparents are the late Ennis Lee Dover, the late Mr. and Mrs. Claude Hampton and the late Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Nance, all of whom resided in Gaffney. Mr. Dover is owner of Clear-View Window Tinting of Gaffney and Spartanburg.
Whitny Sossamon Lemmonds of Gaffney attended the bride as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Carmen Porter Blanton, Chasity Tindall Hamrick, Trebbi Norris Hardin, Summer Griffith Robertson and Crystal Lacey Wilson, all of Gaffney; Jordan Claire McDaniel and Lacey Anna McDaniel of Blacksburg; Courtney Nicole Eustace and Megan Elizabeth Eustace of Charleston.
The bride’s attendants wore gowns of chocolate satin designed by Watters and Watters. The gowns featured off-shoulder bateau necklines, three-quarter sleeves and sashes of teal taffeta ribbon. They carried bouquets of chocolate cosmos, terra cotta roses, milba roses, green cymbidiums, teal hydrangea and green berries. The stems were wrapped in sheer ribbons.
Elizabeth Corrine McDaniel of Blacksburg served as flower girl and wore a gown by Us Angels. The sleeveless dress of ivory satin and organza featured a chocolate satin cummerbund and matching flowers at the back waist. She carried rose petals in a rose petal-covered basket.
Christopher Lee Dover of Gaffney attended the groom as best man. Groomsmen were William Todd Jolly of Blacksburg, Brian Eric McCraw of Cowpens, and Terrill Dyle Brown II, Shannon Lincoln Hamrick, Mark Eugene McDaniel, Brad DeWayne Robertson, Chad Djuan Robertson, the Rev. David Earl Toney and Michael Lee Weber, all of Gaffney.
Ushers were Marvin Lee Bishop Jr., Brain Eugene Dase, Jacob Marc Hamrick and Michael Todd McDaniel, all of Gaffney.
Master Drake Lyndon Hamrick and Master Caleb Mikel Dover, children of the bride and groom, served as Bell Children. They received Bibles during the ceremony as gifts from their parents.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride. The bride and groom were driven from the church to the reception in a 1957 white Silver Cloud Bentley while the wedding party traveled in a vintage trolley.
The front door of the home was framed with a garland of antique green and antique teal hydrangea, chocolate roses and orchids.
The Miller-Rowe Consort performed in the library of the home as guests arrived. The band Leggs entertained in the ballroom framed tent.
Guests were greeted at the reception by Mr. and Mrs. James Oliver Hamrick, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Craig Norris and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Anthony Sossamon Sr.
Guests entered the tent through an entrance marquee adorned with 150 hanging candles and stems of flowers. The continuing chocolate and teal theme was enhanced by dozens of peacock feathers in each centerpiece throughout the tent. A regal full-sized carrousel horse encircled with a wreath of flowers served as the centerpiece for one of the buffet tables while a large carrousel horse sculpted of ice adorned another.
Outside the tent, children as well as adults enjoyed riding a 15-horse musical carrousel that was adorned with teal ribbons and streamers.
Mrs. Sikky Rogers with Entertain the Idea of Charlotte, N.C., was the wedding designer.
Mr. and Mrs. Michael Wayne Dover enjoyed their honeymoon in Maui. They now reside in Gaffney.

Prior to her wedding, the bride was entertained with numerous parties.
A miscellaneous shower was given at Hopewell Baptist Church on July 24. Hostesses were Reba Flores, Chasity Hamrick, Janice McDaniel, Jordan McDaniel, Karen McDaniel, Lacey McDaniel, Robin Satterwhite, Christy Touchberry and Brandy White.
On August 7, a cookbook shower was given by Gail Hamrick, Betsy Jolliff, Bunny Morgan, Cynthia Tate and Vicki Tomlinson at the Morgan home.
A lingerie shower was given by Carmen Blanton, Chasity Hamrick, Summer Robertson and Lacey Wilson at Billy D’s Grill on August 12.
On August 13, a linen shower and luncheon was hosted by Barbara Cobb, Trebbi Hardin, Anne Inman, Blanche Luker, Beth Martin, Pat Norris and Teresa Welch at J. Michael’s.
A Christmas ornament shower was given on August 24 by Laura Emrich, Jane Gaino, Kitty Lewis and Judy Nix at the Lewis home.
On August 26, a lawn and garden shower was given in honor of the bride and groom at J. Michael’s. Hosts were David and Deborah Perry and Lucas and Alicia McDaniel.
A seasonal bridal shower and luncheon was held at Hamrick’s, Incorporated on August 26. Hostesses by Margie Waters, Judy Weathers and Anita Westbrooks.
On August 27, an entertainment shower was given in honor of the bride and groom. Whitny Lemmonds, Marsha Melton, Ann Sossamon and Julie Sossamon were hostesses for the shower at the Lemmonds’ home.
A bridal brunch was held on September 10 at the Piedmont Club. Hostesses were Frankie Childers, Kay Payne, Janet Queen, Claudia Sanders and Sheila Smoke.
On September 17, a bridesmaids’ luncheon was held at the Piedmont Club. Hostesses were Dinah Hamrick, Dora Hamrick, Linda Hamrick, Ann Sossamon, Rhonda Hamrick and Shelba Cook.
The bridesmaids were also honored at “a day at the spa” on September 23 at The Heights of Converse. The event was given by Dinah Hamrick, Dora Hamrick, Linda Hamrick and Rhonda Hamrick.
On September 24, Patricia Coyle, Dora Hamrick and Rosemary Jolly entertained the bridesmaids as they prepared for the wedding at the Hamrick home.
The bride and groom entertained the wedding party at a rehearsal dinner on September 23 at River Bend Sportsman’s Resort.
