Ohlsen is sorority’s Valentine Sweetheart

Xi Alpha Delta selected Ruth Ann Ohlsen as this year’s Valentine Sweetheart. She was crowned by last year’s sweetheart, Libby Reed. Xi Alpha Delta held its monthly meeting Monday, Feb. 6, at Magnolia’s of Gaffney. Thirteen members answered the Greek roll call. Linda Houser was a guest and hosts were Ann Loftis and Ruth Ann Ohlsen.

Following the opening ritual, the president, Shirley Turner, called the meeting to order and asked for reports from officers and committees. The minutes of the January meeting were read and approved. Turner read a letter from International about the Carolinas Convention that will be held in Fayetteville, N.C., on May 5-7. The theme, “The 40’s Big Band,” will be used through the session.

For the service project for February, members voted to make a donation to Meals on Wheels in memory of three deceased members – Iris Pinson, Midge Love and Laura Raines. For future service projects, each member will make a donation to the ways and means fund in March.

Members selected Ruth Ann Ohlsen as the valentine sweetheart at its January meeting and at the February meeting she was given a crown and rose by last year’s sweetheart, Libby Reed.

At the conclusion of the business session, a program on “Stress and How We Deal With It,” was presented by Ohlsen. Everyone took part in the open discussion.

Following the closing ritual and blessing, refreshments were provided by the hosts.

The next meeting of the group will be on Monday, March 6, at the home of Billie Taylor.
