Retired from Monsanto.
James Howard Houey, 72, of 128 Curtis Drive died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at White Oak M a n o r , S p a r t a n burg.
Husband of Mae Hester McGill Houey, he was born in Cherokee County, a son of the late Shadrach and Gertrude Watts Houey. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church and the All Male Chorus. He was a retired employee of Monsanto.
James was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, William Houey, Shadrach Houey Jr. (Sally), Jerome Houey (Martha Jean), Dakota Houey, Evia Lee Crosby and Marvis Houser.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons, Spencer Leach (Andrea), Eddie Houey (Alberta), Howard Houey, Douglas Houey and Thomas Houey (Denise), all of Gaffney; two daughters, Mary Houey and Amanda Guerrero (Pablo) of Gaffney; a brother, James MacArthur Houey (Vivian) of Columbia; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church with Dr. Michael Bridges officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be in church Thursday at 1 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Bob Leach, John Brannon, Madison Watts, and Byrice Harris, Willie Dean Sarratt and Everett Hopper.
Honorary bearers will be members of Concord Baptist Church All Male Chorus.
The members of the Senior Choir will be flower bearers.

Ralph E. Andrews Retired from General Electric
Ralph E. Andrews, 65, of Salem, Va., passed away suddenly Friday afternoon, Feb. 17, 2006, at his home.
Mr. Andrews was a retired 20year employee of G e n e r a l Electric and was curr e n t l y s p e n d i n g his time with various charitable endeavors, including restorations of historical sites and nature conservation. He settled in the Salem area on the

years ago after a lifetime
of travel. He was originally from Gaffney and served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 until 1964.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Patricia Andrews; children, Kelly Turner and husband, Jeff, David Andrews and wife, Jeanne, Albert Floer and wife, Adrienne, Jeanne Milford and husband, Al, David Floer and Donald Floer and wife, Gloria; and grandchildren, Savannah Andrews, Emily Andrews, Vincent Kingery, Krista Floer, Brandon Floer and Ryan Floer.
Services were held Monday at 3 p.m. at the Johnny M. Oakey Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Pastor Michael Lyles.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to either the American Heart Association or the charity of their choice. Frances M. Seals
Worked for 25 years
with General Foods
Frances Doris Martin Seals, widow of D.B. Seals and daughter of the late William Leslie and Lillie Thomas Martin, died of heart failure on Sunday morning, Feb. 19, 2006, at her home in Lakeport, Calif. She was 83.
Mrs. Seals was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Born Sept. 11, 1922, in Gaffney, she worked for General Foods in San Leandro, Calif., for 25 years before her retirement.
Mrs. Seals is survived by a son, Steven Seals, and a daughter, Sandra Kay Seals, of Lakeport; two brothers, Vernon Martin of Gaffney and Duane Martin of Kissimmee, Fla.; three sisters, Marian Allen of Livermore, Calif., Shirley Ruppe and Sylvia Wright, both of Gaffney; stepmother, Corene Martin of Gaffney; two grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.
Service and interment will be private at Harlington Cemetery, Lakeport.

Karen H. Ivey
Employed by Hamrick’s Inc.
Karen Henson Ivey, 48, of 131 Greenfield Road, Gaffney, passed away Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Inman on Dec. 24, 1957, she was the daughter of Mildred Edwards Henson of Inman and the late Douglas Henson. She was employed by Hamrick's of Gaffney in the Distribution Center and was a member of Pacolet Road Baptist Church in Gaffney.
In addition to her mother she is survived by three sons, Wayne Ivey and Brian Ivey, both of Wellford, and Joey Ivey of Cowpens; two sisters, Freda McSwain of Landrum and Donna Henson of Columbus, Ohio; three grandchildren; and a grandmother, Lucille Edwards.
In addition to her father, Ms. Ivey was preceded in death by a brother, Tim Henson.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Seawright Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Powell and Everett Peterson. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman.
The family is at the home of her mother, Mildred Henson, 1351 Hickory Nut Road, Inman, and will receive friends tonight from 6-8 at Seawright Funeral Home, 26 E. Main St., Inman.
Dana Dixon
Former music professor
at Limestone College
HARTSVILLE – Former Limestone College faculty member Dana Harris Dixon, 67, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006.
Born in Durham, N.C., Mr. Dixon was a son of the late Henry B. and Evelyn Tyson Dixon. He received a Bachelor of Arts in music from UNCChapel Hill in 1960 and Master of Science from Juilliard School of Music in 1963. He was a Fulbright Scholar in 1963-65 at Paris Conservatory, studying piano with Yvonne Lefebure.
Mr. Dixon was an associate professor of music at Limestone College from 1966-77 and professor of music at Coker College from 1977-87. He was on the Florence Symphony board of directors for a number of years and gave many piano recitals in area colleges and universities as well as in the San Francisco area.
Surviving is his brother, Dr. Henry B. Dixon II of Frankton, Va.
Memorials may be made to music scholarship funds at Coker College or Limestone College.
