RODNEY POSTON RODNEY POSTON Rodney Poston made the outstanding 20-point game look ordinary this season.

That’s the reason the Wildcat senior was honored as the region’s Player of the Year for the second straight year.

He’s joined on the allregion team by teammates Josh Butler, Tim Boyd and Tyler Otey.

Poston averaged 20 points and five rebounds for the Wildcats, who finished the season at 169 and advanced to the second round of the Class A playoffs.

“It’s just a great honor for Rodney to be named the region’s best player for the second straight season,” Blacksburg coach Travis Miller said. “It’s also an honor to have four of the 12 players selected to the allregion team.”

A Wildcat has been named the player of the year in four of the last five seasons.

Poston was also named to the all-state team and to the North-South All-Star Game on March 18 at Winthrop.

Butler, a junior, averaged seven points a game, while Boyd grabbed a team-high eight rebounds a game and averaged nine points a game.

Otey scored at a nine point a game clip and pulled down an average of six rebounds.

Miller was selected as the region Coach of the Year after guiding the Wildcats to their first region title since 1985.
