Man finds wife dead Sunday

By TARA JENNINGS Ledger Staff Writer tara@gaffneyledger.com

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the Sunday evening death of a 41-year-old Blacksburg woman.

Cherokee County Deputy Coroner Glenn Fuller would not release the name of the woman because all of her family has not been notified. An autopsy will be conducted today in Newberry.

Following a 9-1-1 call from the victim’s husband, sheriff’s deputies responded at 7:15 p.m. Sunday to 1294 N. Mountain St., Blacksburg. She was found shot in the bedroom of the home by her husband.

“We don’t have a lot yet,” said Sheriff Bill Blanton. “We are still interviewing witnesses and we will be piecing together what happened this morning. We don’t know that it was a crime yet.”

Police were on scene processing the crime scene, which is near Mt. Paran Church, and interviewing witnesses until nearly midnight.

A family member was arrested for disorderly conduct.
