Phillips will seek re-election to House It has been my honor and privilege to represent the citizens of District 30 in the S.C. House of Representatives for the past 28 years. During that time, I have consistently worked on behalf of conservative, fiscally responsible government. I am now #2 in seniority in the S.C. House of Representatives. I am announcing today that plan to seek re-election for this position. I believe that the taxpayers of this state need strong and effective voice in our legislature, one who is not afraid to express his views and one who is willing to take stand on the issues and fight for that position. I have consistently voted against tax increases and my record reflects that fact. I have done so not out of opposition to needed improvements in our governmental system, but because I feel that we can improve without footing the bill for bigger and bigger government. During the next few years, the State of South Carolina will be put to a severe test in meeting the needs of its people, especially in education and care of the elderly. I went to continue to use my experience and influence to work on behalf of better, not bigger government. I am a businessman and know what it means to operate on a balanced budget and to live within your means. That is the kind of philosophy I intend to continue in the House of believe it reflects the best interests of the people of District 30 and the State of South Carolina. One of my strongest desires is to have water available in every area of Cherokee County for our citizens. Another important thing that I plan to continue is to make myself available and accessible to all the citizens of Cherokee County. I know how to get along with people, help people and get people to work together. Being a legislator is more than just going to Columbia three days a week. Serving our citizens is a full time job. I have made myself available to my constituents whenever possible. I am always available to help with your problems whatever they may be. Telephone calls and letters are promptly answered. That is the kind of service I have brought to my job and that is how I intend to continue. I would appreciate your vote and support on November 7, 2006. |
