Upscale Maternity & More Now accepting new and and children’s clothing. Please or 864-425-1995 We will be open for business Retired from Milliken SPARTANBURG – Earl James Hughes, 85, of 2141 Oakhurst Circle, died Sunday, March 5, 2006, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born May 6, 1920, in Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Edward and Annie Hughes and widower of Hazel Smith Hughes. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a
51-year member of
Brown’s Chapel Baptist
Church, where he served as deacon and was a Sunday School teacher for a number of years. Mr. Hughes retired from Milliken with over 40 years of service.
Survivors include his children, Anne Shuford of Atlanta, Ga., Jimmy Hughes of Spartanburg and Dennis Hughes of Lancaster, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 18 greatgrandchildren; and two sisters, Sara Sanders and Joyce Hughes, both of Gaffney.
Visitation will be tonight from 7-9 at Floyd’s Pacolet Chapel.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brown’s Chapel Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. C. Timothy Fowler and the Revs. Huford Cash and Harold Patton. Burial with military rites will be in Pacolet Memorial Gardens.
Family members will be at their respective homes.
