Gerald F. Goforth
Kohler; self-employed
carpenter for many years
Gerald Franklin Goforth, 71, of 318 Tenth Street, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 3, 2006, at his residence.
A native of C h e r o k e e County, he was the son of the late Samuel Clyde Goforth and Ruby Montgomery Goforth.
He was a member of
Radiant Life Assembly
of God Church and former member of Asbury Methodist Church.
Mr. Goforth was a U.S. Navy veteran and was formerly employed by Kohler Plant, Spartanburg. He was a selfemployed carpenter for many years.
Surviving are seven brothers, Preston (Bud) Goforth of Pacolet Mills, William (Bill) Goforth of Gastonia, N.C., Wilford Goforth of Shallotte, N.C., Michael Goforth of Mooresboro, N.C., Neal Goforth, Wayne Goforth and Wilbur Goforth, all of Gaffney; five sisters, Doris Garner of Isle of Palms, Margery Stubbs of Chesterfield, Dell Byars, Susan Jones and Judy Hill, all of Gaffney.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Goforth was preceded in death by two brothers, Hugh Davis and John Clyde Goforth.
Also surviving are step-children, Danny Foster, Patricia Ramsey and Georgia West; step-grandchildren, Danielle Cochran, Jarred Foster, Kaden Cochran, Ben Foster, Heath Foster and Corbin Foster.
Graveside services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Goucher Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends immediately following the service.
