Jennie M. Parker

BLACKSBURG – Jennie Mae McDaniel Parker, 76, of 136 Blackwell Road, died Sunday, March 5, 2006, at her home.

A native of Gaffney, she was the widow of William (Bill) Thomas Parker Sr. and daughter of the late John William Boyce McDaniel and the late Bertha Jane Bolin McDaniel. She was a homemaker and member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving are sons, Bill Parker Jr. of Blacksburg and Sam Parker and wife, Paula, of Boiling Springs, N.C.; daughters, Debbie Parker of the home and Bebe Whelchel and husband, Paul, of Blacksburg; brothers, Eddie McDaniel and wife, Patricia, the Rev. Ferman McDaniel and wife, Virginia, Jimmy McDaniel and wife, Sarah, Henry McDaniel and wife, Bernice, all of Blacksburg, and Gene McDaniel and wife, Judy, of Rocky Mount, N.C.; sisters, Nellie Pruitt and Rose Stewart of Clover; sisterin law, Norma McDaniel of Shelby; grandchildren, Michael Whelchel, Brian Whelchel and Michelle Whelchel of Blacksburg, Emily Parker and Zachary Parker of Boiling Springs, N.C., and Jessica Parker and Jada Mayes of Blacksburg

Mrs. Parker is also survived by her late husband's siblings whom she cared for and loved as her own.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by a brother, David McDaniel, and a sister, Helen McDaniel.

Services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Rock Springs Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Brian Harris and Perrin Parker. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 at Gordon Mortuary and at other times they will be at the home.
