Blacksburg’s Cameron Byars was nearly perfect against Lockhart on Friday.

Byars threw a six-inning nohitter, striking out 12, to lead the Wildcats to a 10-0 victory over the Red Devils.

Byars allowed just two walks in improving to 2-0.

Daniel Revis allowed six hits and seven runs in picking up the loss.

The Wildcats also were aggressive on the base paths with eight steals.

Gary Gaut and Jessie Hardin doubled and Dustin Batchler tripled for the Wildcats, who improve to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in region play.

The Wildcats would get all the runs Byars would need in the second inning. With two outs, Dustin Byars was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on Batchler’s triple. Cameron Byars walked and scored on a steal of home. Nathan Dixon had the inning’s other RBI.

Ryan Dellinger had an RBI in the fourth to put the Wildcats up 4-0.

The Wildcats added two more runs in the fourth on Gaut’s double and Brent Humphries’ single.
