Bulldogs nip Indians, 2-1
Freshman Adam Fritzsche made 10 saves but it wasn’t enough as the Boiling Springs boys’ soccer team nipped Gaffney, 2-1, on Friday.
Fritzsche was pressed into duty in the absence of starter Zach Woods.
“Adam really played well,” Gaffney coach Frank Riddlehoover said. “He made some real good saves.”
All the goals came during a second-half flurry. The Bulldogs broke a scoreless tie at the 18 minute mark of the second half.
Two minutes later, Boiling Springs went up 2-1. Andrew Moss scored the Indians’ lone goal at the 23minute mark.
The Bulldogs outshot Gaffney, 17-9.
“We had some scoring opportunities,” the Gaffney coach said. “Overall, we played well.”
The Indians, who fall to 3-21, will travel to Union today. Gaffney begins its region schedule on Wednesday against visiting Northwestern.
