Elementary honors choir appreciates musical support
Dear Editor:
The Elementary music teachers of Cherokee County would like to thank everyone who assisted with the countywide Elementary Honors Choir, which performed March 16 at the Arts Expo. This was an invaluable educational opportunity for the 89 choral students representing our 10 local elementary schools.
We would like to thank Ryan's for generously providing lunch for the rehearsal. Our deepest thanks goes to the staff at GHS for the use of their facilities. We also would like to thank Dr. Fran Page of Meredith College, who served as the choral clinician, and Dr. David Thompson of Limestone College, who accompanied the choir.
We would also like to express our gratitude to the district administrators who gave their support during this musical endeavor. Through participation in the honors choir, students gained valuable musical experience which will last a lifetime. Finally, thank you to the parents and family members who faithfully support music education in our schools.
Sincerely, The elementary music teachers

Impressed by city hall dedication ceremony
Dear Editor:
A thing of beauty is a joy forever; it will never pass into nothingness.
So wrote John Keats, the most remarkable of the English poets. Kudos to Mayor Henry Jolly and those councilmen who demonstrated their appreciation of beauty and practicality in the beautiful city hall. Thank you for standing firm and staying the course in bringing your plan to fruition.
The dedication was held with class and dignity. Appreciation is due all who planned and participated in the event. Even the sun smiled on the occasion.
Bring on the parks and all things beautiful which make the citizens of Gaffney proud.

Happy with decision to build city park
Dear Editor:
Usually when I write a letter to the editor, I am upset about something, but this letter is meant as a pat on the back.
I don't know who came up with the idea of clearing the land at the corner of Rutledge and College Drive but it was brilliant. Nothing has been done in the last 10 years in Gaffney that had the dramatic impact as far as beautification as this has. We've all heard the political snips about the motive because Henry Jolly and his son Hank live in the area. I don't care if Santa lived across the street, this project makes every property on both streets look better.
Folks visiting from other areas who are in town to check out Limestone College have got to get positive vibes when they ride by the little park. There is a fresh wind blowing in our town.
