Not happy with plans for new football stadium

Dear Editor:

It is my understanding that the school board's intention is to build a new Gaffney Indian football stadium in the vicinity of the new high school.

Our old stadium was built in 1937 but seems solid as a rock to me. I wish that the people of Cherokee County could have a voice or an opinion as to what happens to our present stadium.

I think of all the history being left behind. All the happy moments, sad moments, cheers, boos, blood, sweat and tears, all the championships of which, by the way, are the most in South Carolina in our football program status.

If space is a problem, the school system owns several properties around the stadium which could be converted to parking, etc.

Please school board, don't lose our history. Find a way to work toward leaving our stadium right where it is.
