James Brown, B.B. King will perform at Peace Center
GREENVILLE - The Peace Center has announced that two legends will perform on separate occasions in the Peace Concert Hall.
James Brown will take the stage on Wednesday, May 24, at 8 p.m. while B.B. King will perform Thursday, June 22, at 8 p.m.
B.B. King performed to a full house at The Peace Center in February 2003. This will be James Brown's first appearance at The Peace Center.
James Brown is known universally as "The Godfather of Soul," but he is also the undisputed "King of Funk," an American original whose pioneering work has literally helped shape the course of contemporary music. He is an American national treasure, one of the first Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees and was honored with Lifetime Achievement awards by the Grammys and American Music Awards.
There has been only one King of the Blues - Riley B. King, affectionately known as B.B. (once "blues boy") King. Since B.B. started recording in the late 1940's, he has released over 50 albums - many of them considered blues classics. In February 2006, B.B. won his 14th Grammy Award in the category of "Best Traditional Blues Album" for "80," a collection of duets and blues standards to celebrate the artist's 80th birthday.
Tickets to James Brown's concert are $40, $50 or $60. Tickets to B.B. King's show are $38, $48 and $58. To order, call 864-467-3000, 1-800-8887768, or order online at www.peacecenter.org.
