The Cherokee National Golf Club will host the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Tournament on April 21. Registration is from 11 a.m. until noon. There will be a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. A box lunch will be served by Fatz Cafe.

There is a $300 per team entry fee. The fee includes two mulligans and one red tee per player. Entry

forms available at the chamber.

Signup for the Cherokee County Recreation Center basketball league will begin on April 1 at Sagesports. The deadline to register is May 20. The league will consist of five boys leagues, ranging in age from 5 to 17. There will be a girls league this year for ages 12 through 18.

Kristi Caldwell had two goals and Janelle Jackson added another to lift the Gaffney girls' soccer team to a 31 win over York on Wednesday. Caldwell now has 14 goals for the season. The defense played well, especially Holly Wolf, Parris Colemorgan and Diana Perry. Kala Wolf had several key saves for the Lady Indians.

The Gaffney junior varsity softball team improved to 11-3 with a 12-9 win over York on Tuesday and a 156 win over Rock Hill on Wednesday.

Lana Ward picked up the win against the Lady Bearcats. Ward helped her own cause with four hits, including two triples. Hillary Kies and Megan Sexton each went 3 for 5 while Brittany Jones was 2 for 5 wtih a triple.

Hooters of Gastonia/SSO Softball will hold a three game guarantee softball tournament at Ferguson Park for D and E teams on Saturday, April 8. The entry fee is $165. Call Shane at 704-445-8566.
