Dever Davis
Retired businessman
and entrepreneur
Dever Delbert Davis, 81, of Paw Paw Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Gaffney, he was the husband of Azalea Parks Davis and the son of the late Willard Hampton Davis and Bessie Pryor Davis. He was a retired businessman and entrepreneur, having owned and operated many businesses.
Mr. Davis was a member of Draytonville Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer, a member
of Cherokee National Country
Club, and member of
the VFW. A World War II Navy veteran, he served on the USS O'Brien and was recipient of a Purple Heart.
Also surviving are three sons, William D. Davis and his wife, Dawn, Gary Lynn Davis and his wife, Brenda, Wayne (Doc) Davis and his wife, Pamela, all of Gaffney; two sisters, Valerie Turner and Carolyn Goforth and her husband, Rev. John Goforth, all of Gaffney; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Ray Davis.
Services were held Sunday at 4 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Todd Braswell and Robert Ivey officiating. Interment was in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
