No one can ever say that Gaffney's Josh Gallman didn't leave his mark at the Georgia/South Carolina Cup this weekend.

After posting an opening round 2under par 71, Gallman shot a final round 76 to finish second overall and just two strokes behind the medalist at the two-day, 36-hole tournament at Cross Creek Plantation in Seneca.

He had a shot to pass the leader after going one-under after 12 holes on Saturday but stumbled down the stretch with a couple of double bogeys.

"Josh really played very well," Gaffney coach Mark Ireton said. "His first round was pretty impressive. He was able to keep the (ball) in play."

In the team competition, the Indians finished sixth overall with a 306-319 635. The Indians were in fourth place after the first day.

"The second day we didn't play as well," Ireton said. "It's a very tough course and the wind was a factor. We didn't adjust to the conditions very well. We just hit some bad shots. The course is located in the hilly part of the state and there were some elevated greens."

The tournament pitted 12 of the top prep golf powers from both South Carolina and Georgia.

In addition to individual and team championships, state bragging rights were on the line. Last year, South Carolina won the event, but this year it ended in a tie. Easley repeated as the team champion, with a 607.

Brandon Coggins shot a 7884 162, while Jody Martin and Matthew Hopper each had a 164 to round out the scoring for the Indians, who return to action on April 10 against Dorman, which finished fourth at the Georgia/South Carolina Cup.
