The four-act play is a costume production set during the Civil War and it covers many wonderful scenes - both bitter and sweet - in the lives of the March family.
Paige Narins, a Gaffney High School freshman, plays the part of Jo March, a boisterous, forward-thinking leader of the four March sisters. Meg, the older daughter, is played by Amanda Mullinax, trying always to quell her high-spirited sister. Ashley Zimmerman is seen as the beautiful Amy, who loves to travel in search of her art. Beth, the fragile little musician of the family, meets an early death.
Love interests in the play are taken by Dustin Shore as John Brooke, Evan Goetz as Laurie, and Craig Sanders as Professor Frederich Bhaer.
Alex Zimmerman is seen as the father of the "little women," Mr. March, and Mary Moss plays their mother, Marmee. The irascible Aunt March is Hannah Greene and Aubrey Hopping portrays the family servant, Hannah.
Lee Cutchin is Laurie's father, Mr. Laurence.
Little Women is an ideal family show, picturing family life as it was in an earlier era, when possibly the worst thing that could happen to four young girls was having nothing appropriate to wear to a party. The family is far from rich, but they know how to fill their hours with fun, especially dabbling in the arts. The March girls, even in the bad times, learn to find balance and harmony as they struggle to grow up.
Tedi Gibbons produces and directs the production, with Zach Guest as stage manager, Kiah Baxter-Ferguson as lighting technician and Brett Weaver on sound. The stage set was designed by Bill Gibbons and constructed by John Fowlkes, Mike Dobbins, Ernest Lavender, Zach Guest, Alex Zimmerman and Dustin Shore.
