Avid bowler

Walter Dean McSwain, 69, of 311 Twin Lake Road, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 14, 2006, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

A native of Gaffney, he was the husband of Nancy Whelchel McSwain and the son of the late Bill Duncan and Janie McSwain Duncan Barnhill. He was retired from textiles and a member of Midway Baptist Church.

Mr. McSwain was an avid bowler and member of the American Bowling Congress.

Also surviving are two sons, Lynn McSwain and his wife, Jennifer, and Benjy McSwain, all of Gaffney; a sister, Geraldine Butler of Gaffney; three nieces, Janet Visco of Cincinnati, Ohio, LouAnn Parker and Kelly Reynolds of Gaffney; two nephews, Jonathon Reynolds and Jason Martin of Gaffney; five grandchildren, Jordon, Morgan, Logan, David and Zack.

In addition to his parents, Mr. McSwain was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Johnny Butler, and a sister-inlaw, Bennie Gail Martin.

Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. M.B. Morrow Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1886, Gaffney, S.C. 29342; or to Senior Centers of Cherokee County, 499 W. Rutledge Ave., Gaffney, S.C. 29340.

The family is at the residence.
