James Edgar Shippy, 52, of 108 Lincoln Drive, passed away Friday afternoon, April 14, 2006, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

Son of Edgar Shippy Jr. of Norwalk, Conn., and the late Betty Jean Littlejohn Shippy, he was a native of Cherokee County. He graduated from Southbury Training School in Southbury, Conn., on June 11, 1970, and was employed by ADS Distribution Company.

Surviving in addition to his father are three brothers, Patrick Shippy of the home, Timothy "Tim" Shippy of Gaffney and Roger Shippy of Norwalk; two sisters, Suzette S. Harris (Derek) of Henrietta, N.C., and Varetta Shippy (Monroe) of Gaffney; a nephew and niece who were reared in the home, Damin Shippy and Ussaia Butler; eight aunts, Marilyn Littlejohn, Carolyn Proctor, both of Gaffney, Sadie Smith of Norwalk, Mary Williams of Baltimore, Md., Mabel Burton, Theodora Smith, Marie Davis, all of Lancaster, and Wayoline Littlejohn of San Jose, Calif,; three uncles, Willie James Littlejohn of Gaffney, Joe Smith of Norwalk and L.B. Littlejohn of San Jose; and a host of other nieces, nephews and relatives.
