Rehearsals for the Rick Gage Crusade Mass Choir will be held today, May 1, and Monday, May 8, at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Organizers hope to have 300 people sing in the choir on Sunday night, May 21. The choir will perform "Lift the Savior Up," "The Presence of the Lord is Here," "God is Here," "When I Think About the Lord" and "Jesus, Lover of My Soul (It's All About You)." A free total cholesterol screening will be held May 24 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at Medicine Shoppe, 305 N. Limestone St.

Support groups

AA meetings are held in Gaffney on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights at 8 p.m. on Carlisle Street in the building behind Limestone Methodist Church. If you have a problem with alcohol, you are welcome to attend these meetings.

Fund raisers

The Limestone College Music Department will have a barbecue luncheon at First Baptist Church of Gaffney Life Center on Thursday, May 4, to raise funds for the Limestone College and Community Chorus' upcoming performances at the York Minster International Music Festival in England. The luncheon, which is being held in conjunction with Gaffney's National Day of Prayer event, will begin at 11 a.m. and plates will be sold until 1 p.m. Take-out and eat-in plates include barbecue, beans, slaw and beverage and are $7 each. Tickets can be purchased from members of the Limestone music faculty (489-7151). Walk-ins are also welcome.
