Xi Alpha Delta sorority observes Founder's Day

Xi Alpha Delta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi had its Founder's Day celebration on Monday, April 17, at the home of Ruth Ann Ohlsen. Twelve members were present.

The president, Shirley Turner, served as emcee. Margaret Smith led the opening ritual while Ann Loftis led the Beta Sigma Phi grace.

After dinner, members participated in a program that celebrated the 75th anniversary of the founding of Beta Sigma Phi.

Patty Greene read highlights from the 20052006 year, which included the service projects and socials. She also read a letter from International. John Ross reminded the members that the theme, "The Good, The True and The Beautiful," not only applied to Beta Sigma Phi but to everything in life.

Libby Reed led the Founder's Day pledge with members reading along.

Shirley Addis presented the Woman of the Year award to Shirley Turner. Hazel Abernathy presented perfect attendance certificates and Shirley Turner presented pins to the 2005-2006 officers - Ruby Travers, vice president; Barbara Vassey, secretary; Ruth Ann Ohlsen, treasurer; and Turner, president. Ruth Ann Ohlsen presented a special gift to Turner for her service as president.

Fran Kerr read a message from Bill Ross, whose father founded Beta Sigma Phi. Alpha chapter came into being in Abilene, Kan., on April 30, 1931. He revealed the new theme for the coming year, "75 Years Young." This new theme will be used in the year ahead in the chapter's meetings and socials.

Frances Sanders led member in the closing ritual.

After the program members revealed their secret sister and exchanged gifts.

The next meting of the group will be today, May 1, at the home of Frances Sanders.
