GHS AFJROTC wins 2005 Adopt-AHighway Group of the Year award

Members of the Gaffney High School AFJROTC accept the 2005 Outstanding Adopt-AHighway Group of the Year for Cherokee County. The award was presented April 11 in Columbia. Department of Transportation named Gaffney High School AFJROTC the 2005 Adopt-A-Highway Group of the Year for Cherokee County.

SCDOT presented the award to the group at the Adopt-A-Highway awards ceremony on Tuesday, April 11, in Columbia. The annual event is hosted by SCDOT to recognize the volunteer-citizen groups, coordinators and SCDOT employees for their participation in Adopt-AHighway.

Milliken, Palmetto Pride, The LPA Group Inc., Associated Packaging, Carolina By-Products, Farmer's Telephone Cooperative, Gentry's Poultry Company Inc., International Paper and Intertape Polymer Group helped to sponsor the event. SCDOT Executive Director Elizabeth S. Mabry spoke at the ceremony.

The SCDOT Commission includes Chairman Tee Hooper of Greenville; Bob Harrell Sr., 1st Congressional District; John N. Hardee, 2nd Congressional District; Marion P. Carnell, 3rd Congressional District; F. Hugh Atkins, 4th Congressional District; Bobby T. Jones, 5th Congressional District; and

John M. "Moot" Truluck, 6th Congressional District.
