Carolina Debutante Society presents 10 young women at 11th annual ball

The Carolina Debutante Society of Gaffney presented 10 young women at its 11th annual ball Saturday

Hayden Anderson Childers Hayden Anderson Childers evening, May 6, at the Marriott in Spartanburg.

Making their debuts were Amanda Caroline Bailey, Kristin Brooke Bailey, Avra Callie Brannon, Hayden Anderson Childers, Sarah Frances Hamrick, Erin Jill Hopper, Megan Lauren Jolliff, Amy Elizabeth Painter, Jennifer Lauren Petty and Taylor Kirby Wright.

Amanda Caroline Bailey is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Barry Evan Bailey. Her grandparents are Mrs. John Darvin Bailey of Blacksburg and the late Mr. Bailey and Mrs. Willie Edwin Pigford of Gaffney and the late Mr. Pigford. She is the great-granddaughter of Mettie Greene Mathis. Presented by her father and escorted by her brother, Alex Clayton Bailey, she is a member of Broad River Baptist Church and a senior at Blacksburg High School, where she is a member of the Beta Club. She is also a Teacher Cadet and dances with Julia's Dance Company. She plans to attend Limestone College.

Kristin Brooke Bailey is the daughter of Paulette Melton Inman and Mickey Dean Bailey. Her grandparents are Mrs. John Darvin Bailey of Blacksburg and the late Mr. Bailey and Paul Laython Melton of Blacksburg and the late Maurine Howe Melton. She was presented by her father and escorted by her brother, Paul Bradford Bailey. She attends Silica Springs Baptist Church and is a senior at Blacksburg High School, where she is a four-year member of the Beta Club. She is also a Teacher Cadet, a member of the jazz dance team and plans to attend the University of South Carolina Upstate.

Sarah Frances Hamrick Sarah Frances Hamrick Avra Callie Brannon is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gettys Brannon Jr. Her grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gettys Brannon Sr. of Spartanburg and Carolyn Powell Brown of Gaffney and the late Paul Inman Brown. She was presented by her father and escorted by Jacob Scott Blanton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Winfred Scott Blanton. A member of First Baptist Church, she is a senior at Gaffney High School, where she is a nine-year member of the Beta Club, captain of the Gaffney High varsity cheerleading squad, co-editor of The Cherokeean and recipient of the Leadership and Community Service Award in the Miss Cherokeean competition for 2005 and 2006. She plans to attend the University of South Carolina, where she will be majoring in physical therapy.

Erin Jill Hopper Erin Jill Hopper Hayden Anderson Childers is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Oliver Childers Jr. Her grandparents are Mrs. John Oliver Childers of Gaffney and the late Mr. Childers and the late Mr. and Mrs. George Woodruff Anderson of Gastonia. She was presented by her father and escorted by Derick Ray Burgin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Marvin Burgin. A member of First Baptist Church, she is a senior at Gaffney High School, where she is an AP Scholar, recipient of a Palmetto Fellows Scholarship and Miss Cherokeean for 2006. She is president of the Sub Deb Club and plans to attend Clemson University, where she will be majoring in architecture.

Sarah Frances Hamrick is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Wylie Hamrick. Her grandparents are Wylie Lyman Hamrick of Gaffney and the late Frances Smith Hamrick and the late Dr. and Mrs. William Earl Wood of Anderson. She was presented by her father and escorted by her brother, Lyman Elliott Hamrick. A

Megan Lauren Jolliff Megan Lauren Jolliff Junior Marshall, a member of the varsity cheerleading squad and secretary for the Sub Deb Club. Following graduation, she plans to attend Clemson University.

Erin Jill Hopper is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chad Miller Hopper. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Clegg Hopper Sr. of Gaffney and Richard Stanley Reed of Gaffney and the late Judith Wells Reed. She was presented by her father and escorted by Zachary Michael Woods, son of Michael Wayne Woods and Tracy Lynn Stockwell. An active member of First Baptist Church and the youth group, she is a senior at Gaffney High School, where she is a member of the varsity cheerleading squad. She is a member of the Sub Deb Club and serves as a Little League cheerleading coach. She plans to attend the University of South Carolina Upstate.

Megan Lauren Jolliff is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Wayne Jolliff. Her grandparents are Harold Wayne Jolliff of Gaffney and the late Kathern Ross Jolliff and Mrs. James Rosemond Cook Jr. of Gaffney and the late Mr. Cook. She was presented by her father and escorted by Dennis Clayton Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Patterson Jones. A member of First Baptist Church, she is a senior at Gaffney High School, where she is a Teacher Cadet. She is also treasurer of the Sub Deb Club, a Coker College Scholar and a Teenage Republicans member. She plans to attend the University of South Carolina.

Taylor Kirby Wright Taylor Kirby Wright Amy Elizabeth Painter is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Leslie Painter. Her grandparents are Mrs. Louis Allan Painter of Gaffney and the late Mr. Painter and Mr. and Mrs. Billy Gene Hannon of Gaffney. She was presented by her father and escorted by Jonathan Wayne Crossley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Crossley. A member of Park Hills Baptist Church, she is a senior at Gaffney High School, where she is a three-year member of the Principal's Advisory Committee, business editor for the Gaffney High School yearbook, The Cherokeean, a seven-year member of the National Beta Club, a member of the Alpha Beta Club and Outstanding Senior for the Class of 2006. She plans to attend Winthrop University, where she will major in elementary education.

Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Furman Thomas Petty of Gaffney and Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Albert Kesterson of Gaffney. She was presented by her father and escorted by Joseph Michael Nicholson, son of Mrs. Michael Allan Nicholson and the late Mr. Nicholson. An active member of Macedonia Baptist Church and the youth group, she is a senior at Gaffney High School, where she is a five-year member of the Beta Club. She enjoys art and dance and plans to attend Winthrop University.

Taylor Kirby Wright is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julian Kirby Wright. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Eldon DeWitt McCraw of Gaffney and the late Mr. and Mrs. Julian Bryan Wright of Gaffney. She was presented by her father and escorted by Daniel Francis Moss, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Dean Moss. A member of First Baptist Church, she is a senior at Gaffney High School, where she is a member of the Principal's Advisory Committee, captain of the varsity cheerleading squad and a member of the Homecoming Court. She is also president of the L'Etoile Club and plans to attend Midlands Technical College.

Amy Elizabeth Painter Amy Elizabeth Painter Larry Douglas Epperly. His grandparents are Kaula Epperly Dowdy and Mr. and Mrs. James Ralph Cordle. He is a senior at Blacksburg High School and plans to attend Limestone College the fall.

Stephen Robert Kaemmerlen, a Senior Son, is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Wayne Kaemmerlen. His grandparents are Mrs. Cyril Joseph Kaemmerlen and the late Mr. Kaemmerlen and Mr. and Mrs. George Tillman Powell. He is a senior at Gaffney High School and plans to attend the University of South Carolina this fall.

Donald Munro McIntosh IV, a Senior Son, is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Donald Munro McIntosh II. His grandparents are Dr. Archibald Nock McIntosh and the late Estelle Washburn McIntosh and Mrs. Lessie Barker Johnson. He is a senior at Gaffney High School and plans to attend North Greenville University this fall.

Master of ceremonies was James Mark Bunch of Gaffney. Pianist John Justin Troutman provided presentation music. After a seated dinner, music for dancing was provided by Sterling of Columbia.

A reception honoring the new members and daughters was held at the home of Mrs. Joe Dee Howell. Co-hostesses were Mrs. William Russell Bradley, Mrs. James Mark Bunch, Mrs. Joe Dee Howell, Mrs. Tracy Alan McDaniel, Mrs. David Shannon Phillips, Mrs. William Clarence Price and Mrs. Richard Shawn Rhyne.

The opening season tea was held at the home of Mrs. Barry Lyndon Hamrick. Hostesses were Mrs. William Russell Bradley, Mrs. James Mark Bunch, Mrs. Joe Dee Howell, Mrs. Tracy Alan McDaniel, Mrs. David Shannon Phillips, Mrs. William Clarence Price, Mrs. Richard Shawn Rhyne and Mrs. Richard Joseph Ruffing.

A murder mystery dinner was held at the home of Mrs. Steven Dale Boggs. Co-hostesses were Pamela Stuard Allison, Mrs. Samuel Charles Burns, Mrs. Philip Dewitt Hulsey, Mrs. Robert Wayne Kaemmerlen, Mrs. James Ricky Mullinax, Mrs. Gregory Scott Moore and Mrs. Samuel Jay Swad.

A Mardi Gras party was held at the Gaffney Country Club. Hostesses were Mrs. Jeffrey Alan Austin, Mrs. Anthony Ray Christoph, Mrs. Roger Loyd Jones, Mrs. Larry Frank Long, Mrs. Jerry Thomas Stevens, Mrs. Michael Watson and Mrs. Christopher Lee Wood.

A father/daughter skeet shoot was held at Circle "F" Farms. Hostesses were Mrs. Timothy Monroe Bagwell, Mrs. James Michael Bullock, Mrs. Larry Douglas Epperly, Mrs. Gregory Kent McCraw, Mrs. Donald Munro McIntosh, Mrs. James Jeffrey Randolph, Mrs. Jeffrey Lee Williams and Mrs. Phillip Wayne Whiteside.

A rehearsal dinner party was held at the Spartanburg Marriott and hosted by Mrs. William Russell Bradley, Mrs. Donald Benton Brock Sr., Mrs. Colin Dale Duncan, Mrs. James Pridmore Inman, Mrs. Jeta Dwayne Proctor, Mrs. Charles Richard Rhyne, Mrs. James Robert Sanders Jr. and Mrs. Larry Anthony Sossamon.

A post presentation scrapbook/dessert workshop was held at the home of Mrs. James Solka. The Carolina Debutante Society was host for the event.
