Meetings

The Class of 1966 will have dutch treat meetings

Monday, May 15, and Monday, May 22, at 6:30 p.m. at Daddy Joe's. All members are asked to come and help plan the class reunion that will be October 67.

Notices

The final choir practice for the Rick Gage Crusade will be held Monday, May 15, at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Gaffney. Even if you have not been to any choir rehearsals, you can still sing in the mass choir. Contact Ashby Blakely, 488-1141, with any questions.

Fund raisers

The youths of Cornerstone Church will have a yard sale and bake sale on Saturday, May 13, at 400 Willow St. The event features yard sale items, cakes and breakfast biscuits.

A yard sale, car wash, bake sale and hot dog sale will be held Saturday from 7 a.m. until at Blacksburg Church of God, 607 W. Cherokee St.

Special events

The Sons of Confederate Veterans, Moses Wood Camp 125 and the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Moses Wood Chapter 469, will be holding a memorial service Saturday, May 13, at the Confederate Soldiers' Monument at the intersection of East Buford and South Limestone Street. The service starts at 10 a.m. and everyone is invited to come honor Confederate veterans. A second service will follow at Oakland Cemetery (Confederate soldiers' plot) for the roll call. There are over 400 Confederate veterans buried in Cherokee County.

The Spartanburg Christian Women's Club will have a "Spruce Up Your Yard" brunch on Wednesday, May 17, from 9 -11 a.m. at Marriott at Renaissance Park in Spartanburg. Cost of the breakfast buffet is $10.50. Master Gardener Joe Maple will discuss ways to spruce up gardens and yards. Allison Williamson will be the musical guest while Margaret Smith of Marietta, Ga., will be the inspirational speaker and share how to cope with changes in an ever-changing world. Church events

Ebenezer Baptist Church will have its annual Mother's Day program Sunday during the 11:15 a.m. worship service. The Rev. Debra Jones of St. Peters Baptist Church, Grover, will be the speaker. Rev. Jones is the daughter of Etta Ree Jones and the late James Clyde Jones. She has two children, Wilmetta Shea and Kiptori. The Senior Missionary will be in charge of the service. All others will be recognized and a special presentation will be awarded to the 12 eldest mothers.

The Senior Missionary Circle of Philadelphia Baptist Church will celebrate its 56th annual Woman's Day program Sunday at the 11 a.m. service. Frances Littlejohn of Suitland, Md., will be the speaker.

Trinity AME Zion Church will have a Youth Explosion on Saturday, May 20. The kickoff is at 10 a.m. featuring the Rev. Princess Smith, praise dancers, singing, drama and Shamika Hill. "Take it to the Streets" starts at 12:30 p.m., featuring outside games, a talent show, food and prizes. At 3:30 p.m., the finale will feature Brother Les Davis, Sister Tamika Rodgers, praise dancers, step teams, singing and the Rev. Sharon Jenkins, pastor of Metropolitan AME Zion, Chester, speaker. Everything is free and all are welcome.

Shady Grove Baptist Church, 712 Green River Road, will have its annual Mother's Day program Sunday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Antoinette Gardner, associate minister of Gowdeysville Baptist Church, will be the speaker. The Deaconess, Trustees and Ministers' Wives will be in charge of the service. All mothers will be recognized along with the church's oldest mother in attendance, mother with the most children present in Sunday School, mother with the

most children present during morning worship and the mother who has traveled the greatest distance to church.

The Junior Missionaries and Advisors of Thickety Mountain Baptist Association will have its annual Junior Missionary Retreat Saturday, May 13, from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Thickety Mountain Baptist Associational Building, 1505 Old Post Road. Classes for all ages including adults will be taught by several facilitators. Refreshments will be served.

Annual revival services will begin Sunday, May 14, at Bethel Baptist Church during the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Music will be provided by the Bethel choir. The pastor, Dr. J.W. Sanders Sr., will deliver the morning message. Revival services will be held May 1517 at 7 p.m.The Rev. Ronnie Williams, pastor of Generostee Baptist Church, Anderson, will be the visiting evangelist.
