It will be an 'A May Zing' day Saturday in Cliffside

Art, traditional and bluegrass music, how-to's and much more will be part of the "A May Zing" festivities on Old Main Street in Cliffside on Saturday, May 13.

Sponsored by Blue Moon Gallery and the Swingin' Pig BBQ & Classic Cafe, the day begins at 9 a.m. and continues until everyone's ready to go home.

Among the delicious food for sale will be breakfast from 7-10:30 a.m., provided by the Cliffside Masonic Lodge; barbecue and fixings from 11 a.m-8 p.m. from The Swinging' Pig and Classic Cafe; home baked goodies from Cliffside Baptist Church and Frost Bite Ridge Ice Cream from Snowcones.

Sixty-four artists will have their creations on display inside the Blue Moon Gallery. Outside the gallery, basketry and wood turning will be on display and demonstrations and how-to's will

include, Ukrainian eggs, quilting, blacksmithing, tatting, leatherworks, basketweaving and wood carving.

Other special events include a May Pole around the clock tower at noon; booths and face painting all day and the Thomas Jefferson Classic Academy Theatrical production at 11 a.m.

"Pickin' on the Porch" can be enjoyed throughout the day. Scheduled to perform are the River Roads Boys, 10 -11:30 a.m.; McKinney Kreek, noon until 1:30 p.m.; Phil and Gaye Johnson, 1:30-3 p.m.; Box Creek, 3-4:30 p.m.; and FlintHill, 4:30-6 p.m. An open mike will be available from 6 p.m. until for anyone who wants to pick or sing.
