Deputies suspicious of door-to-door raffle sales Deputies are worried that three North Carolinians who have been approaching homeowners about a raffle could be trying to con local residents. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office has received reports of persons going door to door selling raffle tickets, according to a press release from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. "We would like to locate the persons and confirm that they are selling legitimate tickets," said Cherokee County Sheriff Bill Blanton. Blanton said there have been at least two homes in the Grassy Pond community that have been approached by three individuals. One woman told police a black woman came to her door while a black man and white man remained in a brown SUV. "They told these people they were from up in North Carolina and were selling raffle tickets so she (the black female) could win a trip to Myrtle Beach," Blanton said. If you have seen or know where the subjects may be located, please call 9-1-1. |
